Training
ACSIS provides a comprehensive training programme for new and
experienced advice workers - a valued resource as there is very
little equivalent local training available to advice workers.from
member centres and outside agencies ACSIS' training comprises:

The Basic Advice Work Skills (BAWS) course for all
new advice workers. This is a 15-week skills and knowledge-based
programme and can only work alongside the practical support
and guidance that all new advice workers are given in the
advice centre they work in. There is also an induction day
prior to the start of the course.This course is accredited
with the Open College Network. There is now a £75 admin
fee for each trainee.The accreditation is under review at
the moment and courses which commence after the 1st September
will not be accredited.

Short
Course 'Post-Basic' training. This rolling programme ensures
that advice centres keep up to date with changes in local
and national legislation, and develop their services to meet
the needs of their community. The programme includes extensive
debt and housing courses, sessions on challenging benefit
decisions and cultural awareness training

Training
to external organisations. There are usually a limited number
of places available on our courses to non-members on a paid basis.
